Determination

In the upcoming production of “You Can’t Take It With You,” Nicole Gerth stars as Henderson, an IRS agent that has come to collect on a quirky grandfather, who has been avoiding paying taxes for several years. The original role of Henderson is played by a male, but that’s not what makes Gerth’s part unique.

Nicole Gerth is a CSUN junior, majoring in theater who is living with Osteogene-sis Imperfecta. OI, as it’s commonly known as, “is a genetic disorder characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause.” Gerth uses a wheel-chair most of the time, including while she is performing on stage. In this upcoming role, however, Gerth will be on stage using crutches for the very first time.

“I’m very lucky,” said Gerth. She has been diagnosed with a mild case of OI, but still has to be careful around her dorm or on crutches.

“You Cant Take It With You” opens on December 1st and runs until December 10th in the Campus Theater in Nordoff Hall.
