The Associated Students Finance Committee members discussed next year’s annual budget language and made recommendations totaling $5,540 at Monday’s finance meeting.

Director of Finance Adam Haverstock discussed possible changes to next year’s budget language. One possible revision includes allowing students to purchase airfare tickets to their events on the day they turn in their funding requests with the knowledge that if the recommendations are approved they will be reimbursed.

Another change discussed was the increase from $400 to $500 to be allocated toward travel when requesting funds from the Academically Related Reserve Fund.

The committee then discussed the advantages and disadvantages of changing the budget to include allocations to go toward food served at certain events.

Haverstock also proposed the possibility of allocating funds to selective member groups. The funds would be dispersed on the condition that the planned events are open to all CSUN students.

These are possible changes that the committee will review over the next few weeks before a finalized annual budget and budget language is formed.

Outside of discussing budget language, the committee made recommendations for the Senate to consider after spring break.

The Public Relations Student Society of America was recommended $500 for its Behind the Lens: A Look into Your Industry event they will host on April 27-29 in Hollywood.

The event will immerse students into the life of an entertainment public relations professional. Approximately 120 students from across the country will attend.

The club had originally requested $6,300.

Students from the cinema and television arts department who are working on a short film for their CTVA 355 class received $800 to create a film titled “The Gift.” The students had requested $1,355.

The Marine Biology Graduate Student Association and American Indian Student Association were recommended the standard allocation of $300 per person for travel.

One officer in training at the MBGSA will be sent to a conference.

Two members of AISA will be attending the Gathering of Nations conference.

Students of the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Student Association may potentially receive $840 from A.S. for their graduation/pinning ceremony and advertisement for the program.

The committee recommended that the National Society of Collegiate Scholars receive $800 for their Integrity Expiration Day event.

A recommendation of $700 was made to Graduate Student for Psychological Intervention program.

A recommendation of $1,000 was made for Islamic Awareness Week, a program put forth by the Muslim Student Association.
