The Career Center’s purpose is to help new, continuing and graduated students find jobs and internships. But, it is not only for students who are on track to a specific career. It is also there for students during their college infancies. “Everything over here is beneficial in a way,” said Raghupreet Singh, a peer educator at the Career Center. “When [students] come here,… Read more

CSUN more prepared for earthquakes and emergencies

Times have changed since 1994, especially when it comes to CSUN’s earthquake preparedness. Fifteen years ago, the 6.7 magnitude Northridge earthquake shook some buildings into unrecognizable mounds of rubble, including the CSUN campus. But, CSUN is more prepared for emergencies like earthquakes because of stricter building codes and more awareness about what to do in the case of another emergency as strong or stronger than the Northridge earthquake. “In general, steel-framed structure design has changed the most significantly since the… Read more

His hour-long workout includes lifting weights, jumping rope and running wind sprints. “Coach Campbell and our strengthening coach, Coach Danny, set up a program for us that we are supposed to come in and lift on our own time,”… Read more

State budget problem continues CSU cuts

Two dirty words have been circulating around CSUN since last year. Budget cuts. CSUN students protested earlier last month, challenging tuition hikes and the reduced amount of classes offered for summer and fall. While these protests come from genuinely concerned students, their actions may be misguided because CSU doesn’t act autonomously. CSUN Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Harry Hellenbrand, realizes the CSU’s situation. “I don’t know if there is a lot they can add at the moment because… Read more
