Leader of the empire wins a Nobel

The first thing I thought when I heard about Obama’s peace prize is that it must be a fake headline from the Onion. As usual, right-wing Fox News/Rush Limbaugh style criticism of President Obama has been so ridiculous and over the top, that any legitimate substantive criticism is ignored. Right-wing smear merchants like Sean Hannity are now denouncing Obama’s Nobel Prize, because it is apparently further evidence of Obama’s Socialism. The right wing cries that the Obama-lovers at the Nobel… Read more

How To: It’s time to channel your inner child

Possibly one of my most memorable Christmas memories is waking up to an ocean of gifts in the living room. And I don’t use the term “ocean” lightly. My brother and I had to literally wade through the presents to make our way to the couch. And don’t even get me started on the tsunami of ripped up wrapping paper that shortly ensued. But the most significant thing I remember is being happy. Sure, the only reason I was happy… Read more

Our other mascot

There are over 250 types of squirrels that exist and two species of tree squirrels that are native to California: the Western gray squirrel and the Eastern fox squirrel, according to the L.A. County Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights & Measures. Clippers not ready to be a playoff team

Michael Johnson Contributing Reporter The Los Angeles Clippers are coming off another terrible season, where they posted a 19-63 record. However, this year the Clippers have made some key additions that could lead them to winning the Pacific Division. That most likely will not happen; just a year ago everyone was saying the Clippers will make the playoffs with L.A. native Baron Davis, and we all know how that turned out. The Clippers are a big tease. For years they… Read more

Artest gives Lakers best chance to repeat

The Los Angeles Lakers have always been known for being the drama team in the NBA, but for the upcoming 2009-10 season they have managed to get on more gossip magazines than sports magazines. Soon after Lamar Odom resigned with L.A., he tied the knot with the black sheep Kardashian, Khloe, drawing a ton of paparazzi to the Laker locker room. If that weren’t crazy enough, the Lakers parted ways with the young Trevor Ariza and signed the problem child… Read more
