The fourth biennial report of the California State University’s (CSU) Alcohol Policies and Prevention states that the alcohol abuse among students has decreased. Currently at CSUN, the Klotz Student Health Center, campus police and other departments are collaborating to teach and promote responsible use of alcohol. Five years ago, according to Capt. Scott Vanscoy of the Department of Police Services, alcohol related incidents on campus were at a level that required a new approach. This approach has less to do… Read more

Spotlight: One student out of 36,000

Fraternity life for Gabe Zeladita doesn’t involve hazing rituals or wild keg parties on campus. His fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, focuses primarily on philanthropy and community involvement. Zeladita, a 21-year-old business management major, said he joined the fraternity because he had a lot of free time on his hands. He said he was looking to join a club or organization, but the Greek life appealed to him the most. “Always be busy is kind of my mentality,” Zeladita said, clutching… Read more

Instrumental songs bring surprises to CD

Judging from song titles like “Does this rag smell like chloroform?”, “Panty Dropper”, and “You don’t hire Evel Kneivel to ride a tricycle”, one would expect The Mag Seven’s “Cotton Needle Sessions” to be full of hard punk rock or gritty grunge rock. Surprisingly, the album is all ambient instrumental work. Each of the songs has its own feel, ranging from a noir detective mystery feel to spaghetti western, riding into the sunset type music. Greatness in the form of fried banana

I have come to love Thai food after moving to California from Hawaii. I especially love chicken satay and anything with snow peas in it. I crave Thai food often and Rincome Restaurant is good enough for me to get through the day. Located in a strip mall in Granada Hills, Rincome Restaurant is anything but extraordinary. The place is small and compacted in the corner of the mall and the parking space is limited. There are a few décors,… Read more
