Upset alert: CSUN beats No.3 UCSB

For 90 emotionally and physically grueling minutes at Matador Field on Sunday, the Northridge men’s soccer squad proved it could play with (and defeat) the No. 3 team in the nation. Coming into the match the Matadors’ postseason hopes were in danger, as they found themselves next to last in the Big West Conference. But with senior Robert Pate’s header from inside the box in the 77th minute of play, Northridge pulled off the 1-0 upset over a UC Santa… Read more

Matadors stay hot against Titans

The Cal State Northridge women’s soccer team (8-8, 4-2 Big West) got another solid performance from goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo, as they held off Cal State Fullerton 1-0 Sunday night. With the win, the Matadors came away with nine of the twelve possible points on its four-game road trip. They also set a school record with three consecutive road shutouts in conference. Unlike recent games, CSUN played a tight, defensive game where opportunities were scarce. Northridge finished the contest with six… Read more

Tracy Shu’s life is at a standstill. The 21-year-old sociology major has missed a week of classes because “my heart is not in the right place.” “School isn’t my thing,” she said. “It’s not that I don’t get the material – I just think I have a calling for something else.” Shu has been trying to convince her family to let her transfer to the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, Calif. ExCEL program helps students

RISE (Rise, Succeed, Invest, and Enjoy) was created under the ExCEL (Experience Confidence and… Read more

Conquer the land

It was just one of those Friday nights. With little else to do, CTVA majors Christian Mikkelson and Miles Dahl decided to ride their bikes on an April night. With no particular destination in mind, they found their carefree ride out of Northridge took them to North Hollywood. “It was just one of those nights, just like an adventure,” said Dahl, 20. “We met this kid who led us up into the hills to this party in a mansion, just… Read more

Leaders and liberties

Dear Bullfighters, American society is a mass of adult babies who want the future to spoon-feed them, coddle them, rock them to sleep, and pay their bills. It is time to wake up, children, take out the pacifier, climb out of the crib, rip off the diaper, fling its fecal contents right into the unblinking eye of this blatant façade of a properly functioning educational system, and give it pinkeye. Soon, in The Game of Life, along the highway during… Read more

NFL rushes to oust Limbaugh

If Rush Limbaugh ran for president, the world would be turned on its side. The United States would be at an all-time divide with the most famous, staunch conservative talk show host rallying the programmed GOP base toward corporate and scare-tactic dominance. Even if he were to run for governor or mayor, he would bring a great rift to the two respected parties of our nation. He has already done so with flying colors over the past 20 years as… Read more
