Matadors win second straight Elephant Bar tournament

Fueled by a preseason poll as motivation the Matadors claimed their second consecutive Elephant Bar Tournament by defeating BYU 3-1 Friday in Santa Barbara. Pick to finish eight in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation many of the players said winning the tournament was motivation. The Matadors used a balanced attack in their win over the Cougars as five players finished with double digit kills, senior opposite hitter Theo Edwards led the way with 17 kills. Senior Middle Blocker, Kevin McKniff, was named MVP of the tournament while fellow senior middle blocker, Jacek Ratajczak, was named to the tournament team. The team now gets ready for their home opener Wednesday against UC San Diego.
