PALO ALTO, Calif.– After dropping a heartbreaking third set in which they where up by as many as six, the Matadors rallied to defeat BYU 3-2 (26-30, 30-25, 28-30, 30-16, 15-12) Thursday night at Maples Pavilion to advance to the MPSF Tournament final on Saturday night. CSUN men’s volleyball: Familiar foe, BYU, stands in the way
After a hard fought MPSF Tournament quarterfinal win over No. 6 seed USC last Saturday at the Matadome, the third-seeded Matadors are in Palo Alto, Calif. tonight for a 5 p.m. semifinal match against second seed BYU. Students honored for work with LGBTQ community
Two men were honored at the Wong-Sayaman Equality Award for 2010 for their work with the LGBTQ community. The award was announced at the Queer Studies Spring Lecture Series on March 30. Kevin Zemlicka was recognized for his work on the “Positive Space-Ally Project” (a program which facilitates understanding of common LGBTQ terms, questions and ally experiences) and Erik Mata for his contribution on AIDS Awareness Day and LGBTQ activism in the Chicano/a community. Selected from a list of 22 nominated titles, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” has been selected as the 2010-2011 book for CSUN’s Freshman Reading Program. “We chose the book because it fit our selection criteria and because after vigorous discussion, and a little blogging, too, it seemed like the best choice,” said Cheryl Spector, director of the Academic First Year Experiences program. “The book really appealed strongly to most members of the selection committee.” According to… Read more
Juried Art Student Exhibition displays student work
The art department has celebrated students’ artwork every year for as long as the art department has been in existence. The prizes for winning in the annual student art exhibition include cash prizes from the Arts Council for CSUN. This year, the Juried Art Student Exhibition is being held from April 23 through May 8.
