One Asian’s thank-you note to UCLA student’s library rant

By Hansook Oh

Do you ever have trouble reaching epiphanies in the library because every fifteen minutes, an Asian suddenly screams out “Ching-chong, ling-long, ting-tong” into their phone? If so, you have reason to be more afraid than annoyed.

At the University of California, Los Angeles, a white, female student named Alexandria Wallace recently posted an online video describing this terrible and rude phenomenon.

Wallace has decided to leave school after her final exam schedule was made public and she received multiple death threats from other students on campus.

She should be made an American hero.

In her video, Wallace courageously pointed out other injustices Asians at her school get away with. She bravely pointed out the throngs of Asians at her school have yet to learn “American manners,” and they may be illegal alien infiltrators from the empire of the East.

She attempted to expose the inhumane and lucrative underground trafficking ring Asian students run, where they force their family members from Asia to come to their apartments on weekends to cook, clean and do laundry.

Despite her intent on exposing this Yakuza-like mafia, Wallace had the decency to acknowledge how tragic the earthquake and tsunami in Japan must be for the Asians.

Wallace knows that since all Asians are connected through telekinetic soybean energy, Asians in China, Korea and the rest of the orange chicken-producing countries will feel the Japanese tsunami in their minds.

Wallace must have felt unsafe about fully exercising her right to free speech, because she did not mention the many other plots Southern Californian Asians have up their kimono sleeves.

Wallace makes it clear that she is suspicious of the hoards of Asians that are accepted into UCLA every year. She does not buy the idea that Asian students are pressured by their parents to do well or spend a large amount of time studying and she asks the public to question these lies.

It’s all in the eyes. Asians’ eyes are actually as large as their skulls, but they hide their gigantic eyeballs with their skin suits. Their freakishly large corneas help them do well in school, especially on standardized testing.

For example, when taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test, their intensified eye strength makes it easy to see the answers printed right above the questions. Normal Americans cannot see these answers because they are printed in ink made of opium.

The same talent allows them to blend into society, because they are able to have jobs that require good eyes. That is why so many Asians are manicurists, dry cleaners, engineers, surgeons and nurses.

Possibly the most dangerous misconception people have about Asians is they cannot drive (because of their falsely small eyes). Asian people are excellent drivers.

Asians strategically disseminated that stereotype into American culture when they got here yesterday, because they may be plotting a surprise car crash attack on UCLA’s cafeteria, where they serve American food. It is well known that Asians hate freedom and the foods of freedom, which means anything that is not orange chicken or sushi makes them very angry.

The next time you are in the library and hear “Ching-chong, ling-long, ting-tong,” call the FBI or the CIA or the campus police. That phrase is most likely a code for “Let us unite together and crash our cars at UCLA.”
Wallace had to immolate her dignity and respect to warn us, and now she may never get another whistle blowing job, or any kind of job at all. She should not have to sacrifice her reputation in vain.

  • Xenophobic

I mean, this article basically seems to be screaming to all the racists of America to start discriminating Asians and well, sending them back to Asia. It’s got to be propaganda.

  • Is it possible?

Actually, now that I look at this person’s name, it sounds Korean. (GASP) Maybe it’s a North Korean agent trying to undermine America’s values and also make it appear as if we’re all just as retarded as Wallace.

Probably a white guy she is interested in is dating an Asian or her boyfriend left her for an Asian! Believe it or not, when it comes to dating white women far more racist than white men..that is the truth!

  • Huskybaby

Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who indulge therein shall eat the fruit thereof.
Question: Would Alexandria Wallace address other races and make fun of them? Or did she think that Asians don’t have feelings, or would be too weak to stand up for themselves? She brought it upon herself, to have to drop out of school to protect her life. She wasn’t thinking.

  • Oh My God

I followed a search to this site. Is this a news paper website? Does Hansook Oh still work here?

    Oh My God!

  • long duc dong

I don’t think any of this is funny.

    • sorryaboutmygrammar

Its ok. If you can’t solve the problem entirely. You can at least have fun while trying to solve it.

  • Lan

As some of you said, Wallace is entitled to her opinions right? and words don’t hurt right? so why is article hurting, it’s just words right, it’s funny! there should not be double standards here . . .

  • Lan

Wallce is lucky she just gets death threats, if she were to target other groupS, she’d be dead by now. . .

  • Lan

LOL! I love this article, and to the racist comments here, you are just a coward like wallace!

    • Xenophobic

Funny, right? I mean, telekinetic SOYBEAN energy? WTF? Hilarious and ridiculous don’t you think?

  • Xenophobic

To be honest, I don’t think it’s just about the offensive tone of the video that makes everyone mad BUT, also the timing. I mean, really, right when Japan gets hit by an 8.9 earthquake, tsunami, aftershocks and freaking nuclear meltdowns? If she didn’t think that was the worst time to post something that pokes fun at Asians, obviously, something is not right in her head. And even if she really was trying to expose Japanese mafia business, I don’t think Japan would really worry itself about the f@#$ing Yakuza when it has to make rebuilding a top priority and take an accurate body count. As if there weren’t enough reasons why other countries hate Americans…

    • Huskybaby

Well put. All it takes is one unstable Asian to take extreme offense, and take matters into his / her own hands. Remember the recent campus shootings that occurred by that mentally deranged Asian? I am of Asian descent and without the Holy Spirit / Lord Jesus in my life, I’d already would have made national headlines by now, and Alexandria Wallace would have turned up missing, and not necessarily in that order! I’m praying for her salvation and that she is ready to meet her Maker. Her days may be numbered by her insensitive, racist, anti-Asian rhetoric, which is from the pits of hell.

  • LOL’d

To the author – You rock, I lol’d, really great piece, sarcasm in all the right places.

    To Matt – STFU

To Jahah Hahfd – If you can’t understand the message then you Sir, are stupid.

To zzzzzzzzzzz – Hell yea i got ripped off! The other Asian midget pornstar didn’t show up so It was just me and your mom. Then the director said that since your mom is only half the size of a real woman that he’s not gonna give me full price! Cheap ass bastards.

    • zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bringing in my mom kinda remind me of
playschool jokes(real lame). I am tuning
      out of this blog.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_G3BZRN6Q65NGIJXTBN5HZVKLEU Jahah Hahfd

you are an idiot to write this article especially YOU being an asian. do you know how many racist people are in america? just look through the comments, you are pitching them a service more than what this article is trying to convey.

    • sorryaboutmygrammar

We are all racist in one way or another. This is just the way our society has programmed us. But where the difference MUST lie is in exercising it. If we stop exercising any racist behavior seriously, before we even know, we will have become a non racist person. Then, we won’t have to try anymore. We will just be.
This article is a sarcasm serving to stop racism!

  • Matt

    Ms. Oh,

Instead of wasting a quarter of a page covering nonsense, you should write an article discussing something of more substance (See Libya, Japan, Bahrain, the U.S. economy, etc). Do you honestly think that this article will land you a job interview or gig anywhere?

    -M

    • sorryaboutmygrammar

      just one question:
Do you think your response will land you to a job interview in an area that you consider to be of “substance”?

  • ARMANDO QUINTANA

My name is Armando Quintana and I have a Graduate Degree in Psychology and have worked as a Counselor and also 10 years as a paralegal. I like many others saw and heard Ms. Wallace Video, I saw nothing more than a Student complaining about noise at the Library, nothing more and nothing less, if anyone thinks it is more then a complaint than you have poor judgment, without looking at a dictionary I chalenge anyone and everyone to give me a definition of Racism; 99 percent of human beings would not recognize Racism if Racism came up to them and slapped them on their Black, White or Asian Rear-End.

    • Platinum Outrage

The definition of racism doesnt matter, this video is obviously made to offend asians, and asians are offended. Wallace herself admitted that she was wrong and she is so sorry. Even if it is just a complaint, this was directed to ASIANS not blacks, nor whites, nor any other race. ASIANS. This is obvious discrimination, racist or not.

Also, Ching Chang Cong Ling Long has always been a racist phrase towards asians. It makes me wonder how such an ignorant woman could have been accepted to a top university.

      • Huskybaby

Alexandria Wallace should have all her college credentials pulled and be black walled from any significant job. This would serve as an object lesson.

        • sorryaboutmygrammar

Rather than alienating her and leaving no difference between her and us. What we need to do is accept her and help her become a better person i.e. non racist in a global world.

      • Huskybaby

If the likes of Bill Clinton made it into office………. then anything is possible.

    • american

It is easier for you to make those comments, but when someone makes a racist video of your kind of people and directly humiliate your kind of people, you won’t be commenting on this utter nonsense you have in your message and response.

    • http://twitter.com/meiyingt Mei Ying

It was not a complain about noise, if it was she wouldn’t have said “I’ve never seen other people do that besides Asians”. She also should not have spoken about the “mothers/fathers/cousins/grandparents who came to visit during the weekends and clean for them, do their laundry, cook for them. They can’t fend for themselves” etc. How is this about noise in library, may I ask?

Do YOU know the definition of racism Mr Armando Quintana?

      • Huskybaby

Hi Mei Ying. I am of Asian descent and also a believer in the Lord Jesus. Racism is to an Asian, what pedophiles are to parents. I loath and detest racism!! . Alexandria Wallace needs to have her sins forgiven by God, like all the rest of humanity. She needs to repent, pull that racist rhetoric off youtube, and make a formal / public , genuine apology of her ranting. She may have “apologized” but if no further actions are taken on her part, then that to me, is a recanting of her apology. It’s like the thief who said he / she is sorry for stealing, but refuses to return stolen merchandise, or the teen who kills his / her parents, and then pleads for leniency because he / she is now an orphan.

    • Huskybaby

While you are looking at the dictionary, I “challenge ” you to look up the word “challenge.”
You are one letter short in your spellling of the word. Here, I put an extra “L” in one word I misspelled, can you see it? Borrow that “L” from my misspelled word and put it where it needs to be.
Alexandria’s video is racist; her demeanor, tone of voice, and etc. gives it away. She would not have gotten away with that if she were addressing blacks at UCLA.

      • sorryaboutmygrammar

Right! “she would not have gotten away with that…”

    • sorryaboutmygrammer

I am not a psychology student. However, your graduate degree in Psychology and 10 years experience-d opinion stunned me. Referring to “Asian” (or any particular race) may not be in the definition of racist. But did Psychology never teach you the social impacts of psychological behavior of an individual and that in an obvious viral environment?
At least Ms. Alexandria Wallace was identified at her early age and she has ample time to correct her opinions before she reaches her professional diverse workforce. You actually walked your profession in dealing with others with such an opinion. And i wonder how many others who are yet to be identified, who themselves do not know that they need to correct their opinions.

  • Get_with_2011_today

Why is this under the “Opinions” section? Is this a piece of ethical journalism? Have you thought of the motives behind her actions? Are you, my dear Hansook, actually ripping this girl apart when you cannot craft a legitimate article in the school paper? Truly, instead of bashing a young girl why don’t you publish an article of substance? This says nothing about racism in the twenty first century – this is just your own private rant in a San Fernando Valley paper.

  • Ka_Ching

Asian guys have the tiniest wangs on Earth — quite laughable, indeed.

    • zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Upset cause they underpaid you as a fluffer in
      asian midget porns?

      • Ka Ching

Not upset at all about the obvious and hilarious truth. And you? Upset because your Eastern twig couldn’t satisfy most sparrows?

        • zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

You hit it dead on. Keep on thinking that.

  • Anna Mae

All too true. I will look out for that in my library now…

@Fedwrkr: God forbid you use correct grammar. Yeesh.

  • Anonymous

If you think Asians are good drivers, your either Asian or you obviously haven’t visited any areas in SoCal that are predominantly Asian. While they tend to avoid accidents most often, it isn’t because they were paying attention, it was because the other driver was paying attention. I won’t bother to recite this week’s close calls or stupid driving I’ve witnessed on the streets and highways. Really the whole point of this retarded conversation relates to the BS PC of today’s society. God forbid I make fun of another person and all of a sudden its taken as offensive. This is why Mel Brooks movies were so entertaining. We used to make fun of each other and laugh, now we call the ACLU. Get over it Asians, your fun to make fun of. Your easy targets, just like every other race or culture in America. Have a Coke and a smile and shut the F@#$ up!

    • american

Quite laughable and pathetic on how you are to post this on the web. You showed many signs of a racist coward who is afraid to confront an actual person very much like a bully. I bet if you literally said racist remark to any kind of race out there in front of their face, you would be dead probably.

      • Anonymous

Believe me I have confronted many people on this very issue. While your intelligence may indicate you have solid education, your lack of common sense has hindered your ability to think like a human. Please do not make death threats. I have spoke these very same comments to many different races and people. I never had an issue yet, they are usually like minded Americans that don’t put a color or culture on themselves, despite their individual heritage. Those people have common sense and intelligence.

        • tonyspeed

This would be a lot easier if people like you stopped violently reminding us that we are not like you and never will be. We try to forget we are different. But you always wake us up.

        • tonyspeed

“God forbid I make fun of another person and all of a sudden it IS taken as AN OFFENCE”
“Get over it Asians, you’RE fun to make fun of. You’RE easy targets,… ”

Why should we shut the fuck up again? I obviously write better English than you. Why don’t you go back to school? And making fun of people just because they are easy targets is what cowards do. So you just admitted to being a coward on the world wide web. No wonder you didn’t use a real identity to post. Coward.

      • Anonymous

Its a blog you retard, you don’t have to use correct grammer. Just make it understandable and people get the point. Besides what are you, 12 years old? You obviously missed the rest of the comment that pointed out that everyone is an easy target, especially when they react to these types of statements. And by the way, your not supposed to use your real identity on blogs, it is anonymous rants and raves. Thats the fun of it.

      • Huskybaby

Well put. I was a victim or racial bullying back in 1974. Practically all of my predators were much taller, bigger, stronger and heavier than I was. I pulled thru, with God’s grace and am very proud to have endured and conquered those hard, difficult times. It made me stronger as an individual. I have forgiven all my enemies and I look much younger than my biological age.
God works wonders, His miracles to perform and the best revenge……….. IS A HAPPY LIFE!

The history on historical American attitudes on race can be summed up in your attitude. Every newcomer to America has had to suffer at your hands, including white ethnic groups (Italian, Irish). And that attitude continues to be pervasive. So should we label all Americans spineless racists because of what seems like a majority? No let’s not be like you. Stereotyping based on perception is inherently evil.

Well Done! Know that you Asians are under the surveillance of Aexandria any relation to George Wallace. Don’t try to pretend that you’re not all alike. She knows different.

  • BigMac

Now that’s good irony. She should be made an American hero indeed.

      More like an American “Zero.”

  • David Blumenkrantz

Hansook Oh’s satirical commentary on Asian stereotypes made my day. Just when I thought it wasn’t possible to appreciate and like her any more than I already do, she plays the sarcasm card brilliantly, something that always scratches my itch . . . . another great Opinion piece in a semester marked by great Opinion sections . . .
