Suspected CSUN gunman released on bail

CSUN philosophy student Gahren Moradian, 22, was released on bail Wednesday night.  He was charged with felony criminal threat stemming from suspicion he claimed to have a gun in the Oviatt Library Tuesday, prompting the building’s evacuation.

If convicted, Moradian could face up to three years in state prison. He is due to appear in North Valley Municipal court on Oct. 19.

Moradian turned himself in to CSUN police Tuesday night after a daylong search that enlisted the support of LAPD, CHP, K-9 units and bomb squads.

Tuesday’s incident was not Moradian’s first run-in with law enforcement.

He was arrested Aug. 14 and charged with felony defacing property, according to LA County Central Jail records. He was released on bail in this incident.
