I have always used coupons, but if I thought the generic was cheaper I would just buy that instead of the smaller name brand size or even samples from "Get Official Samples" can help

Paleo. The 2.5 million year-old fat diet. Man, that is so unsustainable. Nor is it calorie-restricted at all. Nor are grains healthy food, no more than cigarettes are a healthy part of your diet.

Exactly. Count me in as another supposedly unsustainable Paleo fad dieter. Except Ive been doing this for over 1 year now with my wife and 3 year old. Our diet consists of tons of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, lean grass fed meats, wild caught fish, pasture raised eggs, almond milk as a sub for regular milk, and grass fed cheeses. and we rarely have a dull moment in our meals. I have lost 20 pounds, I had GERD and IBS which both vanished within one month of eating Paleo, my blood pressure and resting heart rate went down to levels similar to that of an athlete's. My complexion cleared up. I have more energy. And contrary to popular belief, this is not necessarily a low carb diet. Vegetables and fruits have plenty of carbs, just not as carb rich as grains. fat is the preferred fuel source for our bodies anyway, NOT carbs. When I see articles like this, I just get upset because the average american reads this and takes it as gospel, thinking that the writer MUST have done their homework before putting this article out. But it is clear as day that they don't. Articles like this just cause a step back for the health of the general population that read them, IMO.

If anyone has any interest in TRULY learning why we get fat and sick in this nation, try reading books like "wheat Belly", or any book by Gary Taubes.

My wife and I have been on the supposedly unsustainable Paleo plan for two years now and never felt better. Moderate weight loss, cessation of constant use of antacids, stopped snoring. Studies were done in the 20th century of hunter-gatherer societies who ate real food until sugar and flour came into their lives. I don't want to spoil the ending for you, just in case you're interested in the truth. "
avoiding sweet, salty, high-calorie processed foods can be difficult?" Of course. Anything worthwhile is difficult. I walk past millions of calories of croissants, danishes and bagels on my way to work. I just ignore them.

the fact that the writer of this article would advise people reading it to start with the government's "my plate" or food pyramid as a starting point for eating healthy screams that the writer knows as much about eating healthy than the people he/she is trying to advise. READERS BEWARE.
