Career Center event informs students of choices after graduation

Students interested in learning about options after they graduate, such as graduate programs attended CSUN’s annual Graduate and Professional School Information Day.

Nearly 80 different schools were available to inform students looking to enter grad school, inside the University Student Union Northridge Center.

The event, which was hosted by the Career Center, was held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m where students were able to explore the different program opportunities.

Sarah Le Long, event coordinator, compared the turnout rate with the annual attendance of the career fair.

“This event is always lower compared to the career fair,” she said. “We would like a thousand or more but we actually have a lower attendance for this event than we do for career fairs.” Le Long said. She is unsure for the lack of students attending this event but wishes more would take advantage of this opportunity.

Le Long said that the average amount of students attending this event is nearly 300.

“I would expect students to be interested in graduation and professional school fairs…to learn more about graduate schools.” Le Long said.

School recruiters like Roxanna Vannorman from UC Santa Barbara said her reason for being at the event. “We are really looking for highly motivated, talented students from various backgrounds, who want to start looking at graduate programs and their career after Northridge.” said Vannorman.

Krystal Rojas, senior deaf studies major, said she heard about this event in a class announcement. “I’m hoping to gain information, pretty much about what my next step is,” said Rojas.
