“It’s more than Jazz – it’s melting pot music…”

Greg Porée Group performed on Friday, Sept. 18 at the LACMA. The guitarist, composer, music director, and producer has made significant contributions to the music of dozens of show-business legends. His credits include music “director for Sonny & Cher, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Diana Ross, and Thelma Houston, and recordings for such legends as Herbie Hancock, Vinx, James Brown, Stanley Turrentine, and Michael Jackson”.

Greg was born in Chicago and has lived in Southern California. “Greg Porée who has been the guitarist on the BBC hit show ‘Dancing With The Stars‘ since it’s first season, is still as enthusiastic about playing guitar as he was early in his life”.

LACMA offers jazz every Friday, but different musicians always attire different crowd of people. Greg Porée group attired expert and fan of jazz. Some people had their nice outfit on for the event and a few were already grooving their move by the stage as soon as the music started.

The older couple sitting next to me were enjoying their picnic. They came to the LACMA just to see Greg Porée. “We love jazz, and we’ve been following Porée group for many years now. The violinist is talented,” said Alexa from Pasadena.

What makes the event unique is the serenity of the outside at LACMA and the smooth sound of jazz while the sunset goes down during the half show. The night is great to enjoy with your co-workers, friends, or even on a special date.

This Friday LACMA is bringing the multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Fergurson Ensemble. He has worked with a wild range of artists included will.i.am.

See you on Friday at the LACMA at 6 p.m. Don’t miss out!
