Farmers Market attendees were greeted with a more festive and playful atmosphere, thanks to the serenading sounds of a live mariachi band, face painting and a special play day event hosted by CSUN’s Tourism and Recreation Department.

Associated Students brought the local mariachi band El Gallo de Chiapas to give live music entertainment to CSUN students while artists decorated the faces of anyone wanting some extra color on the overcast Tuesday.

CSUN’s Tourism and Recreation department also set up their annual Play Day event, setting up tables where students could make crafts, play board games and ultimately have a good time.

“I’ve been apart of the play day for three years when I was here in college,” said James Allison, CSUN alum. “The benefits from things like meditation or any play where you interact with your hands…that can be a way to transition your goals from what you’re thinking…to the goals that you want.”
