Despite having several new players at his disposal this season, CSUN men’s basketball head coach Reggie Theus will be reliant on players who played during last season’s 10-24 campaign.

Although the newcomers captivate with their athleticism, the upperclassmen provide the team with proven playmakers who have a set of defined skills that should provide the team with stability this season.

Landon Drew

Position: point guard

Class: senior

2014-15 Stats (per game): 5.7 points, 4.5 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals

As Landon Drew prepares to enter his final season as CSUN’s floor general, he is set to reaffirm the playmaking abilities he displayed last season. That was evidenced by the 4.5 assists he averaged last season, which was made sweeter by his impressive 2.48 assist-to-turnover ratio which was good for 39th in the nation. Being such an adept passer should make Drew the starter at point guard heading this season.

Aaron Parks

Position: point guard/shooting guard

Class: junior

2014-15 stats (per game): 10.6 points, 1.8 assists, 3 rebounds, 0.7 steals

Drew’s injury troubles last season opened up the door for Aaron Parks to have a larger role in the team’s offense. Named the CSUN men’s basketball Player of the Year last season, there was no better display of his quality than during the make-or-break senior night game against UC Riverside. In that game, Parks scored 29 points and in the process set a Big West record with 19 made free throws.

Tre Hale-Edmerson

Position: power forward/center

Class: senior

2014-15 stats (per game): 5.3 points, 2.5 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals

The only returning forward to have logged any real minutes for the Matadors is senior forward Tre Hale-Edmerson. The 6-foot-9-inch big man brings a range of skills to the table, averaging 1.3 blocks per game and 5.3 points and rebounds respectively in the 14-15 season. The Matadors will need his rim protection after the graduation of stand-out forwards Stephen Maxwell and Devonte Elliott.
