For many students, paying for a membership to the gym is just not in their budget, but the app SworkIt Lite is here to help with reaching weight loss goals.

Some of those who try and workout outdoors for free are faced with safety fears, especially in the evenings as it gets dark. This app provides users with workouts that can be done from the comfort of your room or on-the-go.

The SworkIt Lite app is compatible with both Android and Apple. It has a five star rating and is free to download. A great feature is that a login is not needed. Once it’s downloaded, users have the option to get started right away with working out instead of having to create an account first. It allows for syncing with apps such as MyFitnessPal and Apple Health. A downside is that ads will pop up during workouts.

It features videos that demonstrate various exercises performed by fitness experts. Users are able to customize their workouts by choosing from over 160 different exercises. There are various categories made to target different parts of the body and someone with an injury can still work out.

“This app has helped me with being able to work out at home while I take care of my three month old daughter and in between homework,” said Samara Atkins, 25, a junior at CSUN who is studying liberal studies. “

The extended version, SworkIt Pro, is $3.99 and offers more customization options and is ad-free.
