CSUN’s Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) will reveal a new art exhibition titled “Valley Scenes” featuring the work of artist Scott Yeskel and his emotional insight of life in Los Angeles.

“There’s romance, sprawl and heat,” Yeskel said. “I love the never ending limitless of L.A.”

Raised in the suburbs of Orange County, Yeskel was artistically motivated by the surrounding rural landscape and calm weather that makes the California lifestyle so intriguing.

“It seems like it goes on forever,” Yeskel said. “There is always something new to discover.”

Yeskel draws inspiration from his everyday life in L.A. and describes this art exhibit as the current mood he feels being in the Valley and L.A. as a whole.

“I love the history, especially in the valley,” Yeskel said. “I have an affinity with mid-century architecture and style.”

Yeskel’s art has been shown in over a dozen solo exhibitions and in several group exhibitions.

In addition to being featured in various magazine and newspaper publications, his work has been purchased and collected by notable companies, such as NBC/Universal and Microsoft.

According to American Style Magazine “His refreshing representational landscapes depict life in the real world, without the rose-colored glasses. The magazine features the contemporary craft of artists and collectors.

“My work pays homage to the past but reflects on the current state of actually living here,” Yeskel said.

You can learn more about his background and accomplishments by visiting Yeskel’s website.

“Visitors to the show will see multiple medium to large scale paintings depicting imagery from the Valley,” said CSUN Art Galleries Exhibition Coordinator Erika Ostrander.

Tickets are not necessary to visit the gallery, but you do have to call in advance to make a reservation. The art gallery is open to all guests one hour prior to performances and during intermissions.

The upcoming “Valley Scenes” exhibit will have its opening reception on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. The art exhibit will be open to the public from Sept. 30 through Nov. 5 in the VPAC art gallery.

The art gallery is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and holidays during all exhibitions.
