Granada Hills will host its 11th annual Street Faire event on Saturday, which will feature OctoberFest activities hosted by the Granada Hills Rotary Foundation.

The Street Faire stretches four city blocks along Chatsworth Street from Zelzah Avenue to Encino Avenue. In addition to OctoberFest, the event will feature a custom car show and hundreds of vendors from the surrounding communities, according to the event’s website.

CSUN students who haven’t heard about the event until now are excited about it being close to campus.

“I think it’s a good type of event going on because then people in the neighborhood get to meet each other,” Jose Sanchez, a business management major, said.

Ashley Robinson, a recreation and tourism major, said she believes the event will attract plenty of students.

“I think it’s cool that there is going to be a big social gathering and it makes sense because it’s October,” Robinson said. “I think that the CSUN area is a good area because it would probably gain a lot of student attention.”

The Street Faire began in 2002 and continued until 2010 before it was cancelled. However, in 2014, the event was revived according to the site.

Sanchez believes that events in the surrounding communities should be promoted more at CSUN.

“I think they should go ahead and promote this kind of event more in school because it’s really close by,” Sanchez said. “…It would be a great opportunity for CSUN students to hang out.”

The event begins at 10 a.m and will last until 5 p.m. OctoberFest activities start at 12 p.m. and last until 4 p.m.
