CSUN’s National Center on Deafness will host its fourth annual Summer Institute June 21 through 30 on campus. This past May the Pub Sports Grill announced it was hosting Meatless Monday, a day designated to an entirely meatless menu.  I passed by, saw the signs, and being the carnivore that I am, thought — Hmmm, interesting. Turns out this Meatless Monday thing is part of a bigger trend, not about vegetarianism per say, but about helping our environment, something (hopefully) we can all get on board with. Each fall, families from around The Valley attend KCET Family Day, a one-day health fair located at KCET studios. Last year, kids and their parents could spin a nutrition wheel, answer questions and win prizes, or learn about their taste buds.
