The crowd, which set a season-high attendance record, was animated from the start as Northridge delivered hard hits and tough defense.

CSUN connects for first series sweep

Originally Published April 9, 2008 After being swept last weekend by Big West Conference rival University of California, Santa Barbara, the CSUN men’s baseball team bounced back with its first conference sweep in four years. Northridge (13-13, 3-3 BWC) hosted Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo (9-17, 1-5 BWC) this past weekend for a three-game series at Matador Field.

Matadors still perfect in Big West matches

Originally Published March 25, 2008 While the CSUN students were on Spring Break, the women’s tennis team was dominating the courts. The Matadors, ranked No. 70 in the nation, won three of four matches in an eight day span, pushing its record to a perfect 5-0 in the Big West Conference and 9-3 overall.

Matadors defeat Bruins

The CSUN men’s baseball team completed a two-game series with UCLA that first began on Feb. 26. The first game was called in the eighth inning due to darkness, but only after the Bruins put 22 runs on the board, compared to Northridge’s two. The last two innings were completed Tuesday, followed by the second game of the series at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Northridge victory is third straight win

The CSUN women’s tennis team won its third straight match on Tuesday with a 4-3 defeat of Fresno Pacific University at the Matador Tennis Complex. Not only did the Sunbirds come into the match with a 17-0 record, but the No. 2 nationally-ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently won the Golden State Athletic Conference championship.

Matadors beat New Mexico

After losing five straight matches last month, the CSUN women’s tennis team found its winning ways with a second consecutive win. It also didn’t hurt to have three days rest and senior Kanykey Koichumanova and freshman Nina Jaworowski feeling 100 percent.

NCAA ’08 tourney goes down in history

The 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament was one for the ages. It was the heavy underdogs toppling a big name programs, a historical Final Four and a championship game that will go down in history. The NCAA also commemorated two important anniversaries. If you thought Monday’s game was classic, the 1983 and 1988 games were just as memorable.

Matadors win last Big West match

The CSUN women’s tennis team broke its five match-losing streak on Saturday with a 5-2 win over visiting Big West opponent University of California, Riverside. This was the last conference match of the season for the Matadors (10-7, 6-2 BWC) before the Big West championship begins on April 25.
