The case against procreation

Many of you probably don’t have children, yet.  Many of  you will ask yourselves whether it is better to breed or not to breed. Partners, family, friends, tradition and instinct will pressure you to have kids. I offer the alternative argument. Consider skipping it.  Save your time and money for yourself.  For those of you who have already reproduced, this advice comes too late; I apologize. I’m older than many of you, and I’ve observed some of my friends’ lives… Read more

Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, Senator Kevin De Leon and two members of the busniness community hold a town hall meeting for a less than one-third filled Grand Salon. California state legislators participated in a round table discussion Thursday about how the state’s budget crisis relates to higher education funding, in the USU Grand Salon. Few CSUN students attended the second of three events in the A.S. sponsored series “Big Politics” to hear guests Coby King, the Chair Elect of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association, Eric Anders, founder and owner of the Wood Ranch restaurant chain, Democratic Senator Kevin deLeon and Republican Assemblyman Cameron Smyth discuss how California’s… Read more

Obama’s healthcare plan is on the chopping block, and liberals are to blame

by Gabriel Ivan Orendain-Necochea

I present here a cautionary tale of how the misguided choices of liberal voters in the 2000 presidential election may have cost us the ability to purchase affordable health insurance after we finish college. Last month, the Supreme court heard oral arguments challenging the constitutionality of parts of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or “Obamacare.”  They are expected to render a decision this summer. This is particularly troubling for those of us getting degrees in departments where… Read more

White Rabbit offers quality eats to CSUN students

Taco Tuesday, with $1 tacos, was a great opportunity to sample the Filipino/ Mexican fare of The White Rabbit Fusion Cafe. Since November 2010 the White Rabbit food tuck has roamed the LA area, Ventura, and Orange County.  Not a food truck chaser? Last November, the owners opened a restaurant in Canoga Park near the corner of Winnetka Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard. Filipino food is known for it’s blending of sweet and spicy flavors, and each taco choice is a… Read more

Desert vacations for Spring Break

If you’re into hiking, camping, the outdoors, or just need some peace and quiet, consider a road trip to one of Southern California’s deserts. Yes, gas prices are up, but a road trip is still more affordable than flying to most places and the drive is an experience in itself.  Spring is a perfect time to visit, with blooming wildflowers and moderate temperatures.  Load your iPod with your favorite playlists. Getting there is half the fun. Joshua Tree National… Read more

But Boluarte Chong was undaunted by obstacles to pursue his dream of studying music in the United States. “I took that risk. A lot of people criticized me – ‘You’re… Read more

Rick Santorum thinks the president should lead according to the bible

Joe Tomaszewski Daily Sundial                                   A literal interpretation of the Bible says adulterers should be stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22:22-24), and you must be put to death if you touch Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:13).  And for all of you out there who worship other gods or none at all, fear thou a Santorum presidency, for in Deuteronomy 17:2-5,  “Moses spake ..if there be found… Read more

Citizens United opens super PAC attack on their peers– you and me

Joe Tomaszewski Daily Sundial   On November 3rd,  voters will decide which party will control the Senate and the House of Representatives and who the next president will be. Growing on the horizon is likely the  biggest wave of political ads to ever flood our media.  Because the Supreme Court  restored their free speech rights, “people,” like corporations and labor unions, can now spend as much money as they want  to try to convince us who to vote for. With… Read more
