Iranian government has defied its constitution

The Islamic Republic of Iran has challenged its constitution in the course of handling Iranians disputing the 2009 presidential election. Hundreds of thousands of protesters have taken the streets of Iran demanding a rerun of the June 12 allegedly fraudulent presidential election.  With the intention of holding peaceful demonstrations, the protesters have forbidden themselves from carrying weapons of any sort. Threatened by the massive outpouring of presidential challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi’s supporters, demonstrators have been attacked, arrested and killed by… Read more

Quest for democracy continues…

Tens of thousands of Iranians have relentlessly taken the streets of Iran seeking democracy and justice. Rather than missiles and ammunition, their weapon has been unity and faith.  Unity brought upon them by their common longing for freedom and change, and faith brought upon them by their common belief that it is, at last, their turn. Protesters, amongst which are determined middle-class, educated, and the youth, wear green and black.  Green represents the color of, opposition leader, Mir Hossein Mousavi’s… Read more

Student Housing Plays a Great Role in College Success

Student housing at California State University, Northridge, offers different types of board and learning opportunities for a variety of students. The suites at University Park are designed for freshmen, living away from home for the first time.  The two-person bedrooms, semi-private baths, required meal plans at the main dining room, and shared study lounges are intended to bring first-year students together and introduce them to college life. It’s not on the agenda…Yet

At a time when Iranians have taken it upon themselves to stand up and fight for the democracy they have been cheated out of, for the past three decades, the United States, contrary to previous measures, has decided to stay neutral and “not meddle”. Generations have been yearning indictment for continuous bloodshed occurring in Iran, in hopes of discovering the undelivered promise of democracy originally made by late Ayatollah Khomeini, former supreme spiritual leader (Valy-e-Faqih) of Iran, a designated label,… Read more

Here We Go Again…

Despite massive opposition by the Iranian people, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad managed to win the 2009 Iranian presidential election, once again. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the U.S. hopes the outcome of the election reflects “the genuine will and desire” of the Iranian people. As an Iranian, I would like to respond to Mrs. Clinton that it is not what the Iranian people “desire,” but what they “deserve”.  This group of highly educated intellectuals whom carry the history, culture and moral… Read more

Obama’s shoes make history

President Obama’s promise of change, unity and traditionalism is on the horizon, as 60-year-old rivals might be seeing eye-to-eye. Jews and Arabs have been in an ongoing dispute for the past six decades.  While many attempts have been made to negotiate a two-state solution, which includes an independent Palestinian state alongside an independent Jewish state (although Israel was established in 1948), the two societies have not been able to reach an agreement on territorial division. The conflict goes beyond land… Read more

Words vs. Missiles

Over 50 years of atrocity, war, and rape, we now have a new president who is willing to try a new way. Since 1947 when, in absolute good intentions, the state of Israel was created alongside the state of Palestine, there has been tremendous loss of life and trust on both sides. In many scholars’ opinions, this is due to an unjust territorial division. During the following 60 years, bullets, missiles, and bombs have been tried to bring peace to… Read more
