G-3 parking structure closed today for special VPAC performance

Levels three through five of the G-3 parking structure located off of Zelzah Street will be closed to CSUN students today for a Valley Performance Arts Center (VPAC) event. Sierra Quad area near Oviatt Library gets vandalized

The Department of Police Services reported that 40 to 50 students from various fraternal and sorority groups participated in a food fight in the Sierra Quad area late Tuesday and early this morning. Students and campus workers battle the heat

Classes and work don’t go on hold just because CSUN is being blasted with furnace-like heat. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for the San Fernando Valley, with temperature highs ranging from 107 to 111. Chatsworth fire

Update: The fire has been knocked down. (3:03 p.m.) Two to three acres are burning in Chatsworth. Matt Levesque, an inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said no homes are threatened by the fire. Both the L.A. county and city units are on scene. Levesque said the county fire department dispatched three helicopters and two Super Scoopers that are dropping water overhead. The fire was first reported at 1:51 p.m., Levesque said. Student collapses inside Subway in the USU

At approximately 1:32 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 09, 2010, the CSUN Department of Police Services was contacted about a student who fainted while at Subway in the University Student Union (USU). Police officers and paramedics arrived shortly at the site to assist the student. Since the incident was a medical emergency, further information is not available.

California Faculty Association releases report revealing mismanagment of public, private funds

The California Faculty Association (CFA)  has released a report that shows public and private funding, such as those generated by revenue operations like auxiliary organizations, have been mixed. The report states the CSU Chancellor’s Office, including the CSU system’s executive vice chancellor and chief financial officer, were aware that public money was being improperly deposited in auxiliary organizations, according to the CFA. National Weather Service issues excessive heat warning

There is an excessive heat warning in effect for Los Angeles County from 8:40 a.m. today through 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service website. A high surf advisory has also been issued for the Los Angeles County and Ventura County coasts from 2:06 p.m. today through 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25. myNorthridge portal down

UPDATE: myNorthridge portal is now back up. The myNorthridge portal has been down since 9:30 this morning, Kendra O’Brien of CSUN’s Information Technology (IT) department said. Technicians are working on the problem but are uncertain when the portal will be back up. IT has an information booth outside Bayramian Hall all this week to aid students and those who don’t know where or when their classes are can call the appropriate departments for more information.
