The Matadors are your Big West Conference champion outright tonight thanks to a 76-75 UC Santa Barbara win over the 49ers. How in the world did that happen? I’ll find out.
Michael Kirby made an unbelieveable layup to push the Pacific lead to 60-55 with 16 seconds to go and Rodrigue Mels missed a three at the other end. The curse of Pacific continues. He’s alright after all and CSUN’s back on top 45-43 with 7:36 to go. Pacific took a four-point lead but back-to-back jumpers from Rodrigue Mels have the Matadors ahead again. Cordell will have to play the last seven minutes of the game since Willie Galick just fouled out with 7:07 to go.
