It’s over

Michael Kirby made an unbelieveable layup to push the Pacific lead to 60-55 with 16 seconds to go and Rodrigue Mels missed a three at the other end. The curse of Pacific continues. Final score: Pacific 62 – CSUN 55. Wait on Long Beach State to see if CSUN can claim an outright championship. Full recap to come.

This is it.

Bryan LeDuc converted a three-point play. At the other end Rob Haynes missed a three-pointer. There is 26.4 seconds left (Shotclock has 13 seconds in it) and CSUN’s got to get a stop and then go for a three to tie the game. That’s the only way.

Crunch time

And Pacific leads 54-53 with 2:55 to go. Critical possessions here: Pacific … goes for a layup, misses but gets the offensive rebound … two minutes to go. Pacific again … James Doran goes for a running layup that turns out to be an airball, but his teammate, Bryan LeDuc grabs it and gets fouled. He misses the first free throw and makes the second. CSUN down 55-53, 1:35 to go. Townsend ties up the score with an easy layup…. Read more

Doran can’t miss

He hasn’t taken many shots, but the one he’s gone up for, he’s made. James Doran just made his fifth three-pointer of the night (this one with Rob Haynes right in his face). The Matadors are relying on Rodrigue Mels for their scoring. And here’s ANOTHER three from Doran. Pacific’s lead is 51-48 with five minutes to go. Kenny Daniels with a three. Tie game.

Cordell’s back

He’s alright after all and CSUN’s back on top 45-43 with 7:36 to go. Pacific took a four-point lead but back-to-back jumpers from Rodrigue Mels have the Matadors ahead again. Cordell will have to play the last seven minutes of the game since Willie Galick just fouled out with 7:07 to go.

Cordell appears hurt

Vincent Cordell was trapped by a group of Tigers who stripped him of the ball and appears to have hurt his elbow on the play. He’s being attended by the team doctor. CSUN now trails 49-40 with 11:41 to go in the game. Free throws coming up for Pacific.
