First lead

51-50 Matadors after a Willie Galick layup. Looks like it won’t last long…Kyle Austin to the line for two free throws. He makes the first one…and the second one. Well those five seconds felt nice for the Matadors. But wait, Jenkins got it back for CSUN. 54-53 Northridge with 5:28 to go.

A familiar chant

“I’m blind. I’m deaf. I want to be a ref.” Courtesy of fans at UCR. Yes, CSUN and Highlander fans have a bonding chant. Matadors down 51-47 with 7:54 to go. CSUN ball.

No lead yet

Kenny Daniels seemed to have slammed down the Matadors’ first lead of the night, but was called for goaltending off a Townsend miss. UCR hit a three at the other end to extend the lead to four.

Now or never

This is a crucial point in the game. The Matadors trail 48-42 with 11:12 to go in the game. They have possession, what are they going to do? The next play can be game-changing… The answer in this same post in a few seconds… Wow..Josh Jenkins hits his first basket of the night a THREE, mind you. They also aren’t pleased that a dunk was nullified for their Highlanders because the player hung on the rim as the ball took a high bounce and dropped in. And finally, they’re not happy about the Matadors crawling back into the game… Read more

Foul situation

Vincent Cordell, a reserve of CSUN, is the only one with two fouls. The rest of the players have either just one or none. My bad. Willie Galick has two ouls also.

Halftime

The Matadors have to feel a bit lucky, and then not so much. They managed to cut the deficit to four points but back-to-back 3-pointers by UCR pushed the lead to 34-25 heading into halftime. Josh Jenkins missed another three.
