Second half: Jenkins assisting

PG Josh Jenkins sure isn’t exploding for 83 points tonight. In fact he has only three. But, he’s collected eight assists and a nice no-look, behind-the back OUTLET pass to Deon Tresvant for a layup. Jenkins is coming out of the game now. Perhaps for good even though there is 12 minutes to go in this game. CSUN’s up 69-39.

Second half: A highlight

Josh Jenkins threw up a nice lob to former Wave Willie Galick and the now-Matador converted it into a dunk that almost ended up in a Pepperdine player getting Galicks’ foot in his mouth. Nice play, though. Braswell just sent out Matthew Wallace to guard Lorne Jackson and these were his words to the freshman: “All you got to do is stay in front of (Jackson) and he’ll turn it over.” Jackson has four TO’s. That’s a game-high. Oh yeah… Read more

Halftime: CSUN in the driver’s seat

Deon Tresvant got back-to-back three-pointers to go down and it’s helped the Matadors to a comfortable 47-24 lead over Pepperdine at halftime. Tresvant leads all scorers with 11 points. The crowd has grown at The Matadome just in time. Seems like CSUN was waiting for them to start playing hard. Matty the Matador was stomping his (or her?) feet on the bleachers’ wood to get the “defense” chant going. Very loud and annoying.

First half: Slap!

Tremaine Townsend goes up for a layup and a Wave defender challenges him. All you can hear as the Matador misses is a hard slap and Braswell goes crazy over what he feels is a non-call. “Are you guys kidding me?” he animatedly said. Townsend (6 pts) just made a layup, though. CSUN up 33-17 with 4:57 left in the half.

Pre-game: Worst Intro ever

Not only students are on break, but it seems that whoever’s in charge of the sound system is too. The Matador fight song came on without the team having come out to the court and it was stopped. Then, once the team did hit the wood, the song played again, but once again was stopped short. It was horrible. Well at least there weren’t too many people here to catch it. Let’s see how the actual introduction goes: mmm aw,… Read more

Pre-game: Waves no-show for national anthem

As soon as it was time to rise, remove the hats and face the flag, it was time for the Waves to splash into the locker room. This also happened at UCLA, with the Bruins. What’s up with that? Five minutes till tip-off. Matty the Matador is doing a dance behind me and high-fiving the 30 people that have so far shown up at The Matadome. You can tell Fall semester is over. CSUN president Jolene Koester is here with… Read more

Game Day: Pepperdine (1-9) @ CSUN (2-6)

I’ll be blogging live from the Matadome, where the Matadors will try to add one more grief to the Waves’ current nine-game losing streak. CSUN snapped a six-game skid of its own last week by beating Denver 80-53 at home. Both teams have been tortured a little by the Pacific 10. UCLA handed the Matadors an 18-point defeat Dec. 7 at Pauley Pavilion while Pepperdine traveled to USC and was beat by 14 on Monday. Three of the Waves’ losses… Read more

Final score 80-53. Oh yeah and Galick’s fine

So Denver was no match for CSUN tonight and the Matadors cruised and ended their six-game losing streak with an exclamation mark. The Matadors won 80-53. Galick came back to the game a minute after rolling his ankle so he’s fine. I’m signing off now. Next for the Matadors is a home game versus Pepperdine Dec. 18. Galick and Townsend led the Matadors with 14 points apiece. Jenkins and Tresvant scored 13 each. Good night!

All but over

Three minutes to go and CSUN is up by more than 20. (Haynes just made a three) Matty is still out and about bugging people. 74-50 CSUN with 1:52 to go….time for the bench to come in.
