Matadors in 3rd inning down three runs

This is David Denenberg at Matador Field Senior outfielder Richard Cates got into scoring position but it didn’t pan out as Parham struck out at the plate to end the first inning scoreless. A lack of hustle in critical fielding plays was the difference as Santa barbara exposed CSUN early with a sacrifice RBI and then a triple from UCSB leftfielder Gunnar Terhune really got things going for the Gauchos.

The irony: Pacific is still playing while CSUN’s done

I find it quite funny that the Pacific Tigers, team the Matadors beat enroute to the NCAA Tournament, are still playing. Their season hasn’t ended and they’ve actually just made the Collegeinsider.com Tournament’s semifinals. Pacific defeated Idaho, 69-59, at the Spanos Center. Idaho also beat CSUN earlier this season. It must be a weird feeling having celebrated Senior Day and then showing up two weeks later for yet another home game.

Matadors go down swinging in first round

Kansas City, Mo. – With a game plan based on invisible things – belief and effort – the Matadors ran out under the Sprint Center’s bright lights Thursday morning. All their NCAA Tournament first round match-up Memphis believed was the second round would be played Saturday. The Tigers’ belief came true. They beat the Matadors 81-70. Their made-up minds of secure victory changed quickly into the game, though. The Matadors got out to a fast start and held No. 3… Read more

Matadors enroute to Kansas City … almost

It’s been two hours since the Matadors men’s basketball team took off on a bus to Bob Hope Airport, but they’re still waiting inside their charter plane to leave California towards their NCAA Tournament first round destination: Kansas City, Mo. Closing arguments will come Thursday for Tresvant, Braswell

City Editor Adolfo Flores reporting: Mark H. Williams, Jeffrey Braswell’s attorney, said “the standard for deciding if a case goes to court is very low,” suggesting the son of the CSUN men’s basketball coach and Deon Tresvant’s case will most likely become a trial after arguments scheduled for tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. Detective John Macchiarella, who represented the prosecution, said that Tresvant and Braswell had stolen from the Porter Ranch Best Buy prior to the alleged New Year’s Day incident….
