The challenge of balancing kids and school

Student-Parents at CSUN, Being a full-time student can be extremely challenging at times.  Now, include a child or two, or in my case three.  You read it right, three.  Some may think that’s crazy, but with the current job struggle and economic crisis many people are finding themselves in this same situation. If you’re a student who’s also on this mission, I’m here to say you’re not alone.  The goal can be accomplished even though circumstances sometimes make it seem… Read more

The skinny on bicycling

Many students missed out on the Associated Students Environmental Affairs bike repair clinic yesterday. The clinic, which was held in front of the bookstore, lacked advertisement. Those who learned about the clinic through Facebook where able to get minor repairs done to their bikes. For those who did not know about the clinic, consider becoming a fan of AS on Facebook to keep up to date on what they’re up to. Coincidently, I stumbled upon an infographic from GOOD, which… Read more

Green Surf Boards

Surfers have a reputation for caring about our beaches and getting involved with organizations like the Surfriders Foundation, which keeps tabs on those who pollute our oceans. With the respect they seem to have for the earth, it was hard to believe that the surfboards that most use to catch the waves are a threat to the environment and peoples’ health. The New York Times article “Surf’s Up, Waste Down” states that surf boards made out of new foam are… Read more

‘Buy Nothing Day’

What many have not forgotten is Black Friday and Christmas. Malls all around are already advertising their enticing sales prices for the day after Thanksgiving and the red and green Christmas decorations are up. I often wonder if we are aware that every purchase we make has an impact on this… Read more
