Zero Waste: Composting at CSUN

A New York Times article “Nudging Recycling From Less Waste to None” caught my attention recently. The article is about a new  anti-garbage movement know as Zero Waste. The article cites statistics by the Environmental Protection Agency stating Americans dump 4.6 pounds of garbage per person per day and  food waste accounts for about 13 percent of total trash nationally. Free massages offered at Get Real event

At an event to launch REAL, an online magazine created as part of the Body Media Image (BMI) project, Theresa Brayton, along with other students  from the Massage Center in Chatsworth, give out free massages, on Oct 27, 2009. Our other mascot

There are over 250 types of squirrels that exist and two species of tree squirrels that are native to California: the Western gray squirrel and the Eastern fox squirrel, according to the L.A. County Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights & Measures. Squirrels normally run away from humans but the Eastern fox squirrels that are often seen on campus will get very close to students and try to get their little paws on anything chewable. Alicia Silverstone’s Kind Diet

Actress Alicia Silverstone, best known for her role as Cher in Clueless, has written a book about being vegan. The Kind Diet, which was released on October 12th, gives Silverstone an opportunity to share the reasons why she decided to go vegan 11 years ago — before it became a Hollywood fad. Men’s soccer ends in a scoreless tie between Matadors and Aggies

The Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team (7-5-2, Big West 2-2-1) goes scoreless in a tie with UC Davis (5-10-1, 2-4-1), Wednesday at Matador Field. The Matadors had 15 shots in the game but none couldnt get passed Aggie goalkeeper Ryan McCowan. Freshman Goalkeeper Michael Abalos had five saves for the Matadors. CSUN 0 UC Davis 0 at the half

In a Big West match CSUN and UC Davis are scoreless at halftime. Not much happend in the first half except for a couple saves by Matador Abalos. The Matadors are favored to win but the Aggies are showing CSUN that this match isnt going to be a walk in the park. Northridge needs to win the game if they want to be in contention to make the postseason.
