Greenpeace spreads the love, even for polluting politicians

I’ve always dreamed about being with a dirty politician, haven’t you? Just thinking about hooking up with one, especially a politician that loves to pollute, just gets my feathers ruffled and gets me all hot and bothered. NOT, and Greenpeace shares my sentiment. Just in time for this week’s love fest, known as Valentine’s day, Greenpeace created a spoof dating site for those government officials who have lovely records and like to cozy up to corporate polluters. The site is… Read more

A.S. allocated additional funds to African Student Organization (ASO) and LGBTA from an account of “unassigned contingency funds” which holds $80,000, said Vahan Khodanian, director of finance. ASO received $800 for a Black History Month benefit concert to supplement their $6,000 budget while LGTBA was granted an unofficial loan of $885 for Gay Prom. Khodanian said despite looming budget cuts to the CSU, these supplemental allocations were equivalent to only one percent of A.S.’s budget for the remainder of the… Read more

The use and definition of “Conscious Ecology” is meant to act in a conscious manner about our environment, which involved us the people. H&M asks for forgiveness by debuting Conscious Collection for Spring 2011

I’m sorry, the inner broke college student meets fashionista loves the retailer H&M, but the inner tree-hugger is not too fond of the brand. I’m not that forgiving when it comes to second, third and fourth chances. H&M, I love your prices and your fashions, but I do not love your practices. In the past year, the retailer has made news by being accused of destroying new clothing by the New York Times, using sweatshops (side note: an H&M sweatshop… Read more

The A.S. Let’s do some good with our spending

We cannot be too naive or ignorant nowadays. We really can’t. Technology, some may argue, has turned many into zombies, though now on its own but as a big support, it helps us educate and inform ourselves. Point being, so much is going out there, out in the world and the main aspect of life that makes my stomach turn and even upset, though willing to something about it, is poverty. We Americans love to spend our money, good or… Read more

Extraterrestrial Contact: How Close to Discovery Are We?

It might seem that since humanity’s technological gismos have evolved at such a rapid pace, there would be no further interest in outside worlds. For the collective bunch, this may appear to be true, however, scientists are feverishly working on contact with extraterrestrials. In the January 2011 edition of Scientific American, I stumbled across an article written by Tim Folger about contacting civilizations in other galaxies. Curiosity sparked my interest since questions of “are we alone in the universe?” have… Read more
