CSUN’s ballroom dance club holds masquerade ball to raise money

The CSUN ballroom dance club held their first masquerade ball at the Castaway restaurant Friday in Burbank. Students spent the evening wearing masks, gowns and tuxedos. They danced the waltz, salsa, tango and rumba.  One of those students was Nicole Maddocks, treasurer of the ballroom dance club. “We wanted to throw a back to school kick off event,” said Maddocks, 20. CSUNopoly event teaches students financial literacy

Borrowing from the Monopoly theme, the CSUNopoly Matador Dollar Day was organized to help students become financially literate. The event held Wednesday was organized with seven stations, each focusing on a specific financial topic catering to students. Some stations addressed topics like financial aid, FAFSA, scholarships, and budgeting for graduation. The event, held in Plaza del Sol, used food and games to draw students. At 1 p.m. last Thursday, a group of CSUN students departed from Fish Harbor in Long Beach aboard the Yellow Fin vessel and headed out onto the choppy waves of the Pacific Ocean. Men’s Volleyball: CSUN up against No. 1 Trojans

The Matadors look to get even with the top-ranked USC Trojans tonight at the Matadome. CSUN has dominated the Trojans, beating them in 17 straight matches that extended back to February 2004 before this season. CSUN police seeks dorm burglar

CSUN police services are searching for the suspect who broke into and burglarized two dormitories Thursday night at University Park Apartment complex. The suspect broke into first-floor apartments of buildings four and 14. He broke the bedroom windows, entered the rooms and stole laptop computers and other electronics. Police officials said they have no reason to believe the victims were specifically targeted. CSUN police services are not sure if the same suspect is responsible for both burglaries. The Matadors’ start in the 2011 season earned mixed results. The Cal State Northridge baseball team split a four-game weekend series with Seattle University that included a double-header Saturday at Matador Field.
