CSUN’s future math and science teachers are reaching out to low-income schools in the community. Noyce Scholars, students with scholarships to teach math or science, are working to encourage middle and high school students to not just pursue a university education, but to also learn about science and math. University Student Union (USU) board of directors allocated space in the student union for a veterans’ resource center, bicycle co-op and an LGBTQ resource center, the representatives of which appeared in droves to the make their case before the board Monday. Vas Defrans rocks CSUN

Wailing guitars and soaring vocals filled the University Student Union Thursday at noon when local progressive rock band Vas Defrans played USU’s Plaza del Sol. The show was part of the USU’s Noontime Concerts series, in which local musicians showcase their music. “I think it will definitely just get us more of a fan base,” said lead singer Vincent Coleman. “It will give us an opportunity to connect to more people.” The gig drew about 10 to 15 onlookers.

The Cal State Northridge softball team (16-25, 3-6 Big West) will travels to Santa Barbara to face the Gauchos (22-19, 6-3 Big West) in a Big West Conference matchup.
