CSUN faculty raises funds for scholarships while enjoying local trails

In an effort to raise scholarship money, CSUN’s geology department hosts multiple hikes throughout the Southern California mountain ranges. These Geotrek’s have raised about $38,000 for undergraduate and graduate students studying geology since they began. “The hike’s are for scholarships,” Vivki Pedone, geology department chair, said. “Money is not raised by a certain amount per mile. In support of Women’s History Month, CSUN hosted a presentation about women’s activism that took place during the recent revolt in Egypt. Bike thefts at CSUN on the rise

Bicycle thefts on campus continue to be a problem. Seventeen bicycle thefts have been reported to the CSUN department of police services as of March 1. Police services released a ‘Campus Crime Alert’ in late February to inform the CSUN community about this on-going issue. The most recent thefts occurred near Jacaranda Hall, Nordhoff Hall and the Oviatt Library. CSUN’s vocal performing group Acasola is going to the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) semifinals after winning second place at the tournament’s quarterfinals Saturday night at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall.
