As Dr. Lawrence Fleischer gave the final keynote speech at the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) conference in Phoenix, Ariz., on Oct. 31, thoughts ran through Jeff Lenham’s mind after Fleischer noted that he was planning an “exit” from the deaf studies field. “I remember sitting in the audience thinking, ‘does this mean that you’re done with our organization (ASLTA), or are you stepping down and that your daughter is ready to take the lead?’” said Lenham, a deaf… Read more

A.S. Senate discusses reworking of enrollment policy

Eric Forbes, director of Admissions and Records, and Dr. Maureen Rubin, director of Undergraduate Studies expanded on the reasons why a resolution to separate add and drop deadlines would have little effect on students at Tuesday’s Associated Students (A.S.) A.S. elections go paperless, online voting

The outlook for the third attempt to use an online elections system for the Associated Students (A.S.) elections in the past three years is optimistic, but no one is willing to say it will be a success just yet. Though the votes from the last two elections were nullified because of problems with the system, the idea that 8,000 students may not vote is close to becoming a reality. As of Oct. 27, 8,000 students still had not switched over… Read more
