Gov. Brown signs second part of California Dream Act

Undocumented students are now eligible for state financial aid to attend public universities and community colleges, after Gov. Brown signed the second part of the Dream Act Saturday.The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act gave undocumented students access to private grants and scholarships when AB 130 was signed in July. Emergency alerts delayed for some students, faculty and parents

Emergency alerts warning students, faculty and parents of a possible gunman on campus last Tuesday were sent around 11:45 a.m., over an hour after police were notified. However, some people admitted to not receiving the message until later in the day, if at all. California Faculty Association to hold strikes after failing to reach agreement with CSU over salary raises

Faculty members at two CSU campuses will hold day-long concerted actions after failing to come to an agreement with the CSU over salary raises. Cal State Dominquez Hills and Cal State East Bay will hold their actions Nov. 17, said Nate Thomas, president of CSUN’s California Faculty Association (CFA) chapter. CSUN Student Health Center offers inexpensive massage therapy, acupuncture and chiropractic care

While surrounding masseuses, chiropractors and acupuncturists may be unaware of their potential competition only a few blocks away, the CSUN Klotz Health Center tries to make students aware of the savings and alternative medicine available. At the Health Center acupuncture is $10 for a half hour, or $20 for an hour. Local acupuncturists charge anywhere from $40 per half hour to over $75 per hour at the Northridge Acucenter, Resda Acupuncture and Alternative Medical Clinic. A CSUN organization would like to see unrestricted cigarette use on campus go up in smoke. Campuses Organized and United for Good Health (COUGH) presented a proposition to the Associated Students senate Tuesday that would create designated smoking areas around campus. “We’re not against smokers, we’re pro-health,” said Marlem DePhilippis, vice president of COUGH.
