CSUN students elect A.S. senators and presidential leaders

With all but one senate seat filled and a constitutional amendment passed, CSUN students chose their peer representatives in elections held on campus and online Wednesday and Thursday. A.S. election results

A.S. election results are in. Amanda Flavin and Sydni Powell from Strength in Diversity won the bid for the presidency. Along with deciding who their new representatives will be for the 2011-12 school year, students voted and passed the sole constitutional amendment on the ballot, which proposed to move the A.S. elections from twice a year to once a year in the spring semester. A.S. makes finances top priority

Associated Student’s top priority this semester is finances in light of Governor Brown’s budget cut proposal to the UC and CSU systems. “It makes me shudder to think that this cut is a best case scenario,” said Tom Piernik, A.S. university advisor during the A.S. meeting.  “The CSU is putting a value on your education, that is the reality of the state’s finances.” A.S. A.S. president looks to put a mobile kiosk in the Oviatt

A.S. President Conor Lansdale wants to put a kiosk in the Oviatt Library to serve as a connection between A.S. and the library and to expose students to issues and leadership. Associated Students President Abel Pacheco, hopes to ‘create a community among CSUN students’ with Big Show 9 and other programs

Aside from addressing student concerns, Associated Students (A.S.) is charged with providing spirited programs and events that help create a community feel. One such successful event was recently completed in collaboration with the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the University Student Union (USU): the India.Arie concert.
