Matadors prepare for Fullerton
The Matadors will square off with Cal State Fullerton this weekend. The three-game home series begins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. The Matadors just ended an eight-game losing streak against Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. The Matadors are currently 12-16, with a 6-4 record at home. Fullerton is 13-9, but has been struggling as of late. They have lost 4 of their last five games. This series will be the first conference games for each team.
Track and Field
Northridge compete in Cal-Nevada Championships Relays
After the Trojan Invitational this past weekend, the CSUN Track and Field team will travel to Fresno to compete in the Cal-Nevada Championship Relays From March 30-31. The men’s team won the title in 2005, and both the men and women placed second in last year’s competition.
CSUN athlete named player of the week
After performing well in the Spring Break open last week winning two events, sprinter Deanna Goodwin received Big West Women’s Track athlete of the week honors.
Men’s Basketball
Braswell gets two-year extension
CSUN men’s basketball coach Bobby Braswell has signed a two-year extension to continue coaching the Matadors. Braswell will be entering his 12th season as head coach. He lead the Matadors to back-to-back 20 win seasons in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. He coached the team to a NCAA tournament appearance in 2001. CSUN finished the season 14-17, finishing sixth in the conference and was eliminated in the first round of the Big West Conference Tournament.
