CSUN soccer player Jay Singh died unexpectedly while visiting his family in San Bruno, on Sunday.
Singh transferred to CSUN from Loyola Marymount, where he played for two seasons. He was redshirting this season and had not traveled with the team to Irvine on Saturday.
Team members were informed of his death in a team meeting Monday morning. The cause of death has not been released and is pending autopsy results.
“We lost a prominent contributor to the Cal State Northridge soccer team,” said head coach Terry Davila. “He will be greatly missed, and all of our thoughts and prayers go out to the Singh family.”
The team has postponed its game against UC Santa Barbara, scheduled for Wednesday. Instead, the entire team will travel to the Bay area for Singh’s funeral services.
