A parade of gratitude

The Fourth Annual San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade took place Sunday at the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

More than 60 veterans groups, five high school marching bands, the San Diego-based Navy Band, the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton and the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest (562 Air Force Band) paid tribute to the veterans. Soldiers from WWII to Iraqi Freedom were represented in the parade by active duty or reserve personnel.

The WWII-era Flying Condor Squadron from Van Nuys came out at the start of the parade to decorate and bring life to the skies. Paying tribute to America’s heroes were the thousands of residents who lined the one-mile parade route along Laurel Canyon Boulevard to witness the parade and say thank you.
