Tamon Fujimi is a 27 year old CSUN senior majoring in Sociology. He has been involved with music since a very early age. Influenced by his parents’ interest in music, Tamon began taking piano lessons.
In middle school, Tamon formed a band and started to play the drums.
Later, he became interested in guitar and taught himself to play. Tamon is currenlty playing guitar for a rock band “The Blinds” and is also performing with other bands as a “side job”.
“With all the music these days I thought maybe I can do something a little more interesting or unique,” he said.
“The Blinds” are a mix of rock and roll, pop, and funk.
Music has always been Tamon’s passion and he plans to make it a priority in his life.
He practices with the band twice a week to prepare for shows. Fortunately, they have space to practice at a band member’s house and don’t have to pay for a studio. They have been performing at several local bars and venues including CIA in North Hollywood.
The Blinds just finished recording their demo CD and will be releasing it soon.
“We’re trying to perfect our music ability. We’re hoping that we’re going to have tight shows and [will be] selling CDs,” he said.
Other activities keep Tamon busy as well. He is currently working at the Freudian Sip at CSUN and also has a job as a dog walker in his neighborhood. “I love dogs.”
He doesn’t even mind waking up at 6 am to walk them! Now that’s dedication.
