CSUN students swarm GradFest

Students flocked to GradFest 2007 at the Matador Bookstore Complex on Wednesday, giving business to the various vendors in the building and getting one step closer in the commencement process.

The long lines could be attributed to some students’ not knowing that they can actually order their cap and gown anytime through March 23 at the bookstore, thus avoiding the crowds, which were consistently dense throughout the day.

The event marked the first time when students were able to get informed about the details of commencement, including how many guests the university is planning for during each ceremony and the times of the commencement events. (Schedules for commencement can also be found at CSUN’s Web site.)

Vendors and college tables filled the bookstore complex. Each college at CSUN had a station for students to ask questions, and companies sold everything from insurance and loan consolidation to grad sashes and announcement cards, with virtually no chance for profit left untouched.

Commencement ceremonies will take place from May 29 through June 1. The honors convocation will be held on May 29. On May 30, students from the Colleges of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Science and Mathematics, and Arts, Media and Communication will graduate from CSUN. On May 31, the Colleges of Humanities, Engineering and Computer Science, and Health and Human Development will have their commencement ceremonies. The last ceremonies will be held on June 1, for the Colleges of Business and Economics and Education.
