Do we often criminalize people who do not deserve to be criminalized?
My best friend who is on the verge of graduating college with a great GPA may be deported.
As a student, she was happy just to be considered a resident but she thought by the time she would graduate college she would be a U.S. citizen.
She started the process for citizenship years ago but her lawyer submitted fraudulent paperwork and simply ran off with her money. She will have to start her immigration process all over again through no fault of her own.
Should the victim in these cases be held accountable? Or should our government consistently group people into a category and give everyone a similar sentence?
