When our leaders cry, do we think less of them?

Speaker of the House John Boehner cried as he accepted his new seat as the majority leader, he cried again on a recent episode of “60 Minutes.” Nancy Pelosi said he sometimes cried when they debated and Bill O’Reilly said Boehner looked like he was ready to cry again during Obama’s State of the Union address.

Republican strategist Ed Rollins said it’s time to dial back the sensitive side. Boehner is second in line for the presidency and a man whose party expects him to stand up to Obama and represent their wishes.

His supporters will look to him to have the strong sort of mind that can assess a situation and make the tough decisions. While the rest of American is hand-wringing and discussing things, leaders are expected to act. Will they believe he has the heart to do that if he can’t keep his emotions in check?
