Six CSUN dorms burglarized in span of two days

An unknown suspect(s) burglarized five dorm rooms on Wednesday, March 30 at the University Park Apartments. There was another burglary and an attempted burglary on Thursday, March 31.

According to the CSUN police Campus Crime Alert issued on April 1, the suspect(s) gained entry by forcing bedroom windows open and stole laptops, an X-Box game console and a camcorder. The burglar(s) hit UPA buildings 1, 10 and 12 at different times of the day.

In one incident, the bedroom window in UPA 12 was left open. The residents were not home at the time of the crime, thus there was no verification of any stolen property.

On Thursday one of the victims caught the suspect stealing his laptop and chased the suspect. He was able to recover his belongings.

According to the Campus Crime Alert, the victim described the suspect as a black male, 5’10” with a medium-to-heavy build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black beanie over his hooded sweatshirt.

The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m.

In another incident at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, an unknown male attempted to gain entry into a dorm room but the resident alerted the suspect that he or she was inside and the suspect fled.

A total of 11 dormitories were burglarized in March.
