St. Patrick’s Day themed drinks

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and while it may have originated as a religious holiday, even the U.S. government acknowledges it. It is now a celebration of all things Irish. St. Patrick may be rolling in his grave that his special holiday has lost its religious meaning, but that doesn’t mean your holiday has to be any less special.

What comes to mind when Ireland is mentioned? Leprechauns, of course! And who better to represent those little buggers than our favorite Lucky Charms spokescreature, Lucky the Leprechaun. Here are three different variations of a Lucky Charm drink to make your St. Patrick’s Day magically delicious!

Your Classic Bowl of Cereal

Feeling nostalgic for that sugary sweet cereal you loved as a kid? Try this cocktail that tastes just like the General Mills treat. Just be careful, too many of these things will leave you seeing hearts, stars, horseshoes, clovers and blue moons!

Ingredients

1 oz. lime vodka

1 oz. Absolute Citron vodka

2 oz. pineapple juice

1 splash Blue Curacao liqueur

Directions

Fill a glass with ice, then mix in the vodkas and pineapple juice. Add a splash of Blue Curacao last to get a fun color display reminiscent of a bowl of Lucky Charms.

A Muy Caliente Lucky Charm

Just because it’s St. Patty’s Day doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with a few ingredients made south of the border. Tell Lucky to grab some guacamole before making a tequila-infused version of the Lucky Charm.

Ingredients

1 oz. tequila

1 oz. vodka

1 oz. Midori melon liqueur

1 oz. Goldschlager cinnamon schnapps

1 splash sweet and sour mix

Directions

Shake it all up in a shaker filled with ice, then strain into a rocks glass.

Short and Sweet

Sometimes you just need to pound ’em back. Here’s the shot version of a Lucky Charm.

Ingredients

1 oz. DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker schnapps

1 splash Bacardi 151 rum

Directions

Throw ingredients into a shaker filled with ice, then strain into a shot glass.

While this is all fun and games, you know what the greatest Lucky Charm of all is? A designated driver! Don’t drink and drive, or you might be getting a plot next to good ol’ St. Patrick.
