AS to screen ‘Mean Girls’ as part of spring movie series beginning Thursday

Associated Students Productions is hosting a free screening of the cult-hit “Mean Girls” at the USU Northridge Center Thursday at 7 p.m.

The film stars Lindsay Lohan as a home-schooled girl raised by her zoologist parents.  She enters a public high school for the first time and gets involved with a group of popular girls. The adventure goes on from there.

“There (were) a group of films (to choose from) and we just decided to do a spring movies series,” said Amir Ahmadian, a producer for AS. “So we were looking at films that were fun for people and that a lot of people had a connection to or enjoyed and it wasn’t (necessarily) based around the Valentines day film.”

The event is free for students, faculty and staff. Those feeling photogenic will have the opportunity to take photos in a designated area and there will be refreshments available. Seating for the movie screening is on a first come, first serve basis.

Ahmadian feels those who attend the event will enjoy the movie.

“It’s a film that everybody’s seen and that a lot of people have enjoyment watching,” Ahmadian said. “It is also has a good message behind it. So it’s a film that is comical, but also serves a good purpose.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the film will begin at 7 p.m.
