Campus VOIP phones still unable to make 911 calls

The Campus Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones were unable to make 911 calls for the second straight day.

The problem began when the Department of Police Services notified CSUN students and faculty early Monday afternoon that the campus VOIP phones, which are located on campus, will not process 911 calls to police dispatch for the time being.

Police chief Anne Glavin said Monday that the Information Technology (IT) department is working with AT&T to resolve the issue.

Phone calls, emails and text messages were sent out again Tuesday to students, faculty and staff informing them of the issue. The message said blue-light and elevator phones can still make 911 calls.

A campus-wide message will be sent out by the IT department when the issue is resolved.

IT officials did not immediately return phone calls to comment on the campus VOIP issue.
