Market Open: Wednesdays 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. (March-Oct.)

About: The Northridge Farmers Market is a nice place for the families and students residing in the Valley to access farm-fresh produce and wholesome fun. This farmers market sets itself above the rest by offering great access to free parking (in the Northridge Mall), numerous food options in addition to fresh produce and a family friendly atmosphere that makes the trip here more than just a grocery stop. There’s pony rides for the kids, a rock wall for the teens and live music for the adults.

 

Name: Playa Vista Farmers Market

Location: 6400 Seabluff Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90094

Market Open: Sat. 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. (Oct.- April) Wed. 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. (April -Sept.)

Good For: Fresh fruit, take-home desserts, pre-made foods, wood-fired pizza

About: What does a pizza maker, a florist, a painter and a knife sharpener have in common? They can all be found at the Playa Vista Farmers Market! The market’s hours will soon change to its summer schedule beginning in May, but they’ll be operating during their winter/spring hours for the next few weeks. It’s a great place to stop in for a hefty omelette, stuffed crepe or a wood-fired breakfast pizza. On your way out, stop by and grab some samples at the complimentary fruit stand and peruse the unique art and jewelry collections.

 

Name: Studio City Farmers Market

Location: Venice Place, between Laurel Canyon Blvd. and Radford Ave.

Market Open: Sundays 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. (rain or shine)

Good For: Organic produce, non-profit charitable contributions, entertainment for kids

About: One of the largest and most prestigious farmers markets in Los Angeles, the Studio City Farmers Market boasts a rotating list of over 100 food vendors. Artisan breads, rare spices, cage-free chicken eggs, hydroponic greens, heirloom tomatoes, fresh honeycomb — it’s all here. Although the market favors early birds, there is plenty to see and eat in the afternoon, between face painting and homemade tamales, to name a few.

 

Name: Culver City Farmers Market

Location: Main St., between Culver Blvd. and Venice Blvd.

Market Open: Tuesdays 2 p.m.- 7 p.m. (year round)

Good For: Potted herbs, last-minute groceries, ample parking, convenient hours

About: The Culver City Farmers Market is considerably smaller than previous institutions, but its makes up for its size in its proximity to the downtown Culver scene. With so many local business and restaurants nearby, residents can take advantage of picking up some fresh produce before heading to dinner or catching the game at the pub. For those visiting from other areas, take advantage of the market’s evening hours. Relax and unwind, and grab a bite to eat while picking up a bag of fresh-picked oranges or a bar of semi-sweet chocolate for dessert.
