Kinesiology department tells stories through dance performance

The department of kinesiology held a performance where students combined the sensation of movement through the discipline of dance.

This performance entitled, Kinesis: Emerging Choreography, was held at the Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall.

Both the dancers and the audience experienced a sense of discipline, emotion and storytelling in the art of performance.

Stephanie Gonzalez, kinesiology major, said all students performing are kinesiology majors.

Some performers used various props in their performances. One dance, called Cerca de la Luz (Near the Light) used a wheelchair in the performance.

“The performance was really realistic how he danced  around using the wheelchair it was a strong dance performance,” Gonzalez said.

Stage manager, Amy Pell showcased a mix of dance performances from modern, contemporary and interpretive. As well as a mix of subjects including disability and love.

Kinesiology students prepared for this event for months. Through this process the students learned responsibility and hard work for any working performing artist. Each student has been committed to exploring visceral expression of dance. The acts had a combination in sharing the power of creative expression as well as recognizing human flourishing and development.
