Emergency alarm sounded at Manzanita Hall
An emergency alarm was sounded in Manzanita Hall announcing students to evacuate the building at 1:30 p.m. CSUN PD arrived on scene around 1:40 p.m. to investigate.
Sgt. Randy Banales of CSUN PD said a smoke alarm was activated, but there was no smoke or fire.
“I don’t know what triggered it,” he said. Banales said Physical Plant Management will be called to assess the situation.
Students were confused as to why they were evacuated.
Megan Tieslau. 22, a communications studies senior, said she was doing homework when the alarm went off.
“I’m a little confused as to what is happening,” she said.
Suzana Vartanyan, a freshman theater major, said the evacuation was interesting.
“I was just getting to class and then the alarm went off,” she said. “This was my first time seeing this.”
Jessica Santos, a communications studies junior, was confused as well.
“I hope this isn’t a real fire,” she said. “I guess I’ll find out what happens soon.”
At around 1:45 p.m., officers gave the all clear, and students and staff were allowed to re-enter the building.
